Wedding Holiday Cards and Chicago Vendor Gifts

I mentioned in my last post, that I had one final post pending–psych! Actually, I was going to have only one, but my trusty Macbook crashed, and the project I was editing for the final post is in total disarray and I need at least another week to finalize it. In the meantime, I thought I would share with you the newest project I just completed: wedding holiday cards.
I have secretly been thinking of and mentally designing our first “family” holiday cards since, umm, our wedding. When I brought this up to my husband, it was as though he could read my mind and said, “Yes we can send out picture holiday cards, but none of us in Christmas sweaters, in front of a fireplace with Tito dressed up as a reindeer.” Dang. That was my original idea.

My original idea got nixed by the hubby. Photo Credit.
He never said anything though about pictures of us on our wedding day, or ones of us with Papua New Guinea natives on our honeymoon, and he CERTAINLY did not rule out a picture of our dog in a Santa hat, and so, an idea was born.
I designed the following cards in Photoshop, using inspiration from some of Shutterfly’s gorgeous templates this season. I ordered the double-sided full-color greeting cards from www.overnightprints.com (the same place I ordered my custom Passport Programs) and unbeknownst to me, they were having a 50% off sale, so I only spent $50 for #100 prints. That’s a steal for sure.

Outside of the card which will be folded, so Tito will be on the actual back of the card. Don’t mind the formatting lines!

As the holiday season is approaching, I’ve been reflecting on all the wonderful people we worked with during our wedding. We enjoyed working with them so much, that we are considering hiring some of our vendors for other events. As an extra token of gratitude, we are thinking of sending them gifts this holiday season to show our appreciation and keep our relationships thriving.
Most of our vendors are from Chicago, and as natives of the city ourselves, we found the perfect gift: Beautiful, unique, glass ornaments depicting classic Chicago scenes like Millenium Park, Wrigley Field, State Street, etc. As a bonus, they are handmade in Poland but sold by a Chicagoland business, Domitp Online and at Chicago’s Chriskindl Market downtown every holiday season.

Some of the Chicago ornaments we will give out as gifts to vendors.
Are you planning on using wedding pictures for your holiday cards? Have you gotten any gifts for your vendors?
